What is wollastonite


Wollastonite is a kind of triclinic crystal system, which belongs to single-chain silicate minerals, and usually presents flaky, radial or fibrous aggregates. Mohs hardness is 4.5-5, white with slightly grayish color, with glass luster. In general, wollastonite is resistant to acid, alkali, chemical corrosion, low oil absorption, low conductivity, and good insulation performance. The world’s wollastonite resources are relatively rich. The total resources are estimated to be more than 800 million tons. China and India are countries with rich wollastonite resources in the world. With the rapid economic development, wollastonite has broad application prospects in economic development.


Uses of wollastonite


With the rapid development of science and technology today, the wollastonite industry has developed rapidly. The main use of wollastonite in the world is the ceramic industry, which can be used as a functional filler in the fields of plastics, rubber, paint, and coatings. At present, the main consumption area of wollastonite in my country is the ceramic industry, which accounts for about 55%; the metallurgical industry accounts for 30%, and other industries (such as plastics, rubber, paper, coatings, welding rods, etc.) account for about 15%.

① Ceramic industry: Wollastonite is very mature in the ceramic market. It is widely used in the body and glaze in the ceramic industry to prevent the body and glaze from cracking, breaking, cracking or flaws, and increasing the surface gloss of the glaze. Spend.


② Functional filler: high-purity wollastonite, as an inorganic white extender pigment, is widely used in coatings and can replace part of the expensive titanium dioxide.


③ Asbestos substitutes: Wollastonite powder can replace part of asbestos, glass fiber, paper pulp, etc., and is mainly used in firewall boards and cement materials, friction materials, indoor wall panels, etc.


④ Metallurgical flux: Wollastonite can protect high-temperature molten steel from oxidation in the molten state, and is widely used in the metallurgical industry.


⑤ Paints and paints: Paints and paints added with wollastonite can improve physical properties, durability and weather resistance, and reduce paint aging.

1. Crushing

The large wollastonite material is crushed by the crusher to the fineness (15mm-50mm) that can enter the mill.

2. Milling

The crushed small wollastonite materials are sent to the storage hopper by the elevator, and then sent to the grinding chamber of the mill evenly and quantitatively by the feeder for grinding.

3. Classification

The ground material is classified by the classification system, and the unqualified powder is classified by the classifier and returned to the main engine for re-grinding.

4. Collection

The powder that meets the fineness is separated and collected in the dust collector through the pipeline with the airflow. The collected finished powder is sent to the finished product silo by the conveying device through the discharge port, and then is packaged by a powder tanker or an automatic baler.
